Description
As shown in Figure 1, the mango is grown on a tree. Depending on the area, the mango tree can grow up to 65 ft (half the size in California) (california rare fruit growers, 1996).The leaves of the tree begin red, but as a adult the leaves are dark green while being a little more pale on the underside of the leaf(california rare fruit growers, 1996). The flowers that bloom on the mango tree are rather a reddish or yellowish color. The fruit grows on the end of a long stem. The shape is in an oval/kidney shape and can range from 2-9 inches long (california rare fruit growers, 1996). The skin of the fruit is smooth and when the fruit is ripe and ready to eat, the color is rather light green or marked of red and yellow (california rare fruit growers, 1996).

The environmental Conditions of the Mango/ Where they grow

Mangos first originated in southern Asia (Stewart & Strauss Advertising, Inc., 2002). Mangos grow where ever there are suitable environmental conditions. In order for Mangos to grow successfully and go through pollination and fertilization, there must be hot and dry periods (Stewart & Strauss Advertising, Inc., 2002). If these requirements are not met, the crop will be unsuccessful. Mangoes are commonly in the Caribbean, Africa, Australia, Mexico, as well as India. The reason why Mangoes are found in these places rather than Canada is because of the environmental condition.

Beneficial Impacts

Mango nectar is full of important minerals and vitamins that some people just don’t get enough of (wise GREEK, 2003). This product does not benefit our planet very well, although the packaging of Mango Nectar is plastic or tin. These materials can be recycled instead of disposed in the garbage. In the long spiel of things, this helps our environment. Some beverages such as the bagged milk are not recyclable and therefore that effects our environment negatively. This product is replaced by those sugary, carbohydrate beverages. For those who are trying to stay healthy, they look towards low sugar juices, water and nectars. Although nectars often have a good amount of sugar, the amount of nutrients balances it out. Mango nectar gives you much more energy than pop or coffee’s.

This product, although has a recyclable packaging, creates a lot of green house gases. It’s not the product it’s self, but rather the process of making and shipping that creates pollution in our air. This product is made from mangos, there are trucks and other machines that are powered by gas that cut down and retrieve the mangos. The gas used to power these machines put carbon dioxide into our air. This step also damages our earth physically with the cutting down of the trees. The process of making the mango nectar from the mango is held in a factory. Factories are bad for our planet because they contribute to the greenhouse effect. Finally, the shipping is one of the most harmful of making mango nectar. The product is distributed around the world. (wikispace, 2010)
The use boats, trucks even cars. All of theses vehicles burn gas
causing even more carbon dioxide. Therefore, this product is not very eco- friendly. Considering that this product is a beverage, an alternative would also be a beverage. An alternative that can replace this product could be water. Not bottled water, but tap water. It doesn’t contribute to carbon dioxide and cleans out your system. It may not have all the nutrients of mango nectar, but it doesn’t harm our planet like this product.

Conclusion

The plant that makes Mango Nectar is the mango, also known as Mangifera indica. The mango is grown on a tree that is grown in how environments. The product that is made from this fruit is Mango Nectar. You can buy this product at stores that are found in your community. This product isn’t very eco friendly because of the process of getting the friend, processing it, and getting it to where people can buy it. Although it is in recyclable packaging, so it may not be as bad as a beverage lets say, that doesn’t have a recyclable packaging. People use this product because of its good amount of nutrients, therefore. some people rather have mango nectar rather than a soda.
